It Works
I was asked what I have done for my staff lately... I responded without hesitation because #ItWorks
• I create a #classroom environment for my staff to learn and develop.
• I insist on a #safe kitchen and provide oversight so my staff is working in a safe manner.
• I give #feedback (10X an hour with a 70% praise ratio) so all my staff knows how they are doing everyday.
• I do the “right things right” so that our program is the best and under budget. So we #reinvest profits back into what we do.
• I lead by example with a “sense of urgency” so the #Team feels a sense of urgency and we’re always on time.
• I buy my new staff shoes with my own money till they can pay me back. I also provide everything they need to do their jobs well. I hire based on #attitudematters
• I recommend and place my staff with other chefs in the area so they can continue to learn other #techniques.
• I bring #respect to an industry that is sadly eroding away. I insist they wash their hands often, speak to each other with respect, saying please and thank you. We are a team… “we all look good together or we all look bad together”.
• I share #professional stories of the #HospitalityIndustry, when I can, while I mentor our next generation of cooks.
